On the whole I agree, though it helps if the photos are better-executed than mine ...

I always love the demotivational posters. I thought both were funny, though not politically correct.

I had a boss once that we gave a demotivational poster to for "bosses day" (Yes, there IS such a holiday!). It was just after a merger with a former competitor and it read: "CHANGE: When the winds of change blow hard enough, the most trivial of things can turn into deadly projectiles". He asked us all to sign it with a sharpie, and I know it hangs proudly in his office today. Not many bosses would appreciate something like that. Best boss I ever had.

Heh.

Paul, I have to admit that I can remember exactly what I was thinking when I voted on your shot. I'm rather embarrassed to admit that when I got to this shot, I looked it over for a while and thought the object was some sort of sex toy and that I just didn't get the joke! I voted based on the photography of it, and laughed out loud this morning when I looked at it again and realized that no, it wasn't a sex toy, but a Star Wars figure.

Although I guess it could be used that way, I suppose.

Right you are. Actually that's one of the things I appreciate about DP. Lots of other sites are good for the ego with mostly "WOW!", "STUNNING!", and "THIS IS YOUR BEST WORK EVAH!" type comments...but those don't teach me much. I've had my arse handed to me more than once here, and I'd like to think I'm a better fotog as a result.

Another benefit to having thick skin - you'll make a more durable coat once you're dead.

I agree. I learn alot more from criticism (positive) and I've become pretty thick skinned, I just don't know how durable (or useful) my hide will be....I've always assumed my corpse would be more of a trophy....

I laughed loudly at both and voted one a 10 (women) and the other a 7. Also, I'm not ashamed I found either very funny. When we stop laughing, will the politically correct have won?

I didn't find either the laundry or the egg offensive, because I feel that whenever we can laugh at stereotypes it shows us how ridiculous stereotyping is. That, in turn, helps diminish it, which is always a good thing :)

That's the idea, even if a delayed reaction ... :-)

not from motivational poster, but more examples of humor falling on its butt......

- now I admit, technicals on this are pretty lacking. But, I still thought I'd get a little higher with the overall complexity of the gag. I was however very pleased with the number of comments.

and

- I really thought this one would garner more comments. I shot this with the 10-17 fish eye to give it the bulge effect- after all wouldn't a gaseous anomaly be hard to contain.

I have two fabulous ideas for humor shots- just need to find the right challenge.
