hey everyone,
I was curious if anybody has any good ideas for portable lighting? More specifically when you are at a location with no power outlets... What do people use in these scenarios? Generators- and then plug their light kits in there? OR..?
I know reflectors would be really helpful, but what other suggestions does everyone have?
Grumps need not respond :P
Oh yeah so you all have a better idea of what I am needing this for... it would be for a model photoshoot in an urban area in the city...

Off camera flash would do nicely. For just one person you don't need to be carrying around big hefty strobes. Just keep the flash close, but out of view of the camera. And use something big (like an umbrella) to diffuse the light.
I just noticed some examples that were linked to www.strobist.com here:

Strobist is an excellent source of info, so you'll want to hang around that site for a few hours for more inspiration. :-)

Yes, Strobist is your friend. Here's a vid of a model shoot on location with only 2 flashes and a light stand (using the strobist methods)

I've used everything from daylight to street lights to hotshoe flashes to portable strobes. It'd help if you could be more specific with what you wanted to do with your light so we could provide better answers as to how to get it done.
