I've Googled and Googled and can't find what I'm looking for so I thought I'd ask... I'm trying to find a fake toilet to use as a photo prop. Although I've thought a couple of times of going to Home Depot and just buying one, a real one would be too heavy and awkward to do what I want with... and I hate buying something and know I'm just going to use it and then take it back.

So has anyone run across a place that has plastic or some other kind of fake toilet that looks real or at least close to it?

Thanks

Mike

Only thing I can think is going to a ceramics shop and seing if they could build a mock toilet that only shows the parts you'll be photographing, i.e. front of tank and lid, front of bowl. Attach them to a wood frame.

you can get them at mobile home/rv places....where the homes are built at...probably less than $30

Just shooting off some ideas here:

Some plumbers still take on apprentices so perhaps they have a mock-up or a working model that you could ask to borrow.

Second option is to look up a Habitat for Humanity Store and see what they have to fit your budget. Purchasing it there would have the money go to a worthy charity and then after you are done with it you could give it back to charity (provided it is still in good condition and not damaged) such that it would be a double gift to charity.

Building surplus places - the one near me has tons of stuff like that, and they'll "rent" it to you for a day, or whatever.

I've not seen a real sized toilet at the rental places... but then I wasn't looking either. I really don't want to use a real one though because of the weight.

I've thought of making a mock up of one out of plastic or wood and painting it white. Or maybe make a wire frame and put plaster around it and then smooth it down and paint it. An RV toilet is close (we have a travel trailer) but it doesn't have the familiar tank behind it. I'll have to go take a look in our trailer and see if something like that would work.

Thanks for the ideas. I was hoping that someone had run across a place that sold mocked up dummies of things like this. I always come up with ideas like this that turn out to be either not feasible or very difficult for me to do.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone else has an idea also.

Thanks

Mike
