I have just recently retrned from Lanzarote.
It is a Spanish Island which is covered in Lava from a massive Volcanic erruption some 200 Years back.
Its the strangest place I have ever visited. Very little grows there because the Lave Fields Virtually cover the Island.
I was gutted because I missed out on the challenge about rural landscapes by 1 Day.
Please give me some comments, these Volcano Pictures were taken through the Bus Window as you were not allowed outside.
Its a real weired Place, and its got to be like being on the Moon and I was informed this is where they tested the Luna Buggies.
Cheers.
Joe

There's nothing wrong with the shots -- they're nice. I just think that it's one of those special places that was so incredible to see in person that your memories of that spot are going to be more overwhelming than what could ever come through to someone in a photo.
I have the same experience with shots I took at Yellowstone and the Badlands this summer. The shots are nice, but they don't even remotely come close to comparing to the experience of standing there. |

You might be interested in the Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. The volcanoes are still (possibly) active. Its a great place for photographs.

The 2nd shot of the red hill side, in the middle of the image around the black area, that looks like a baby in a womb as seen from a ultrasound to me. At least that's the first thing I thought when I saw it. :D
Nice shots. We have some areas in Centeral Oregon that are nothing but miles of lava flows that you wouldn't want to walk on. They probably didn't want to break the buggies so they didn't test them on there. :D
