As often happens, and more so recently, I come across excellence in photos, which, by my standards at least, have not received the attention they deserve. Sometimes their placement posted in the official challenge results coincides with my (personal) evaluation, sometimes there is distance. Occasionally, a gem has been subjected to severe 'oversight' and/or prejudices, whatever the voters' motivations may be.

To remedy this and to pay respect to those who have made my world a little richer by sharing their works, I want to post an alternate award after and for every challenge (or at least as many as I can handle).

Here's the first installment:

My comments on the respective images are posted, where they usually are, beneath the image.

Aw, thanks for my award!
In the same spirit, I'd like to post my award for the most underrated picture (IMO of course!) in the 'Monuments' challenge:

monument #3 by jjbeguin
Place: 78 out of 96

It's a shame that many thought the blown out highlights were accidental, I thought it was an excellent compositional device. The picture was certainly in my top 3, how did it end all the way down there?!

This one was a top ten in my book, as well. At least you commented, which I did not. Thanks, Bob

Great idea Zeus, and thanks kindly for my virtual ribbon! It was a genuine surprise to see mine up there with such admirable competition.

I too was thinking suggesting a 'highly commended' kind of award but this is as good a way as any. :)

Now, if I could only learn how to embed thumbnails (see BobsterLobster's post) instead of the ugly links, we'd have something to look at... ;-)

This tutorial pretty much covers how to embed images, clickable thumbnails and the like into posts.

The tutorial works good but you have to remember you can not use the link from the address bar (//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=34646)when inserting images using the [img] tags.

You need to right click on the image you want and select properties to get the correct url and copy it and paste it into the thread.

Wow, thanks very much Calvus. I would like it, if you could send me the steps via email anyhow, if and when you find time.
