Recent threads have proposed that challenges have devolved into free studies and only picture technicals or "wow" are rewarded to the detriment of actually meeting the challenge.

I believe my Working Without a Net entry goes against that. It is a shot taken with a 3.1MP P&S using full auto and composed hastily. It has technical issues (glare from the blown sky in upper right as well as the performer's face being obscured by the wall behind), but nobody can argue that it does not meet the challenge (with tightrope walkers being the de facto origin of the phrase).

So my takehome messages would be:
1) Meeting the challenge DOES matter.
2) People with P&S cameras can take hope that you can still score quite well (6.24 in this case) without a fancy dSLR.

The technicals are actually very good for that image. Perhaps you should read up on candid photography and what makes a good image in that genre, especially since you seem to have a knack for it.

p.s. you might think this is a blatant attempt on my part to distract you from refrigerating ladybugs. Perish the thought!
