Im visiting my parents and remebered my mom used to have a camera she didnt let me play with when i was a kid. So, I looked around the attic and found it.
Its a Nikon EM with E series 50mm/1.8 and 100mm/2.8 lenses and a attachable flash.
They are in really good condition, kust needed to clean the lenses a bit, and will get batteries for it.
Was just wondering if anyoen ever owned one of these. Ive googled and found a manual and info already

Never owned one, but have shot with one a bit. It was/is a great camera, a rock solid performer.

My first camera was a Nikon FE. They made a lot of very nice, manual cameras. |

According to this link the lenses will work on your D40 in manual focus mode. Congrats on the new lenses! |

Oh man, you are bringing back memories! I had a Nikon EM in college. Then I took a photography class as an elective and was told I couldn't use it cause it only worked in Apeture Priority mode (everything else was automatic). I borrowed a buddies camera for the class - fell in love with photograhpy and bought a Nikon F3 right after college.
The EM is a great little starter SLR!

I had the FG and it was a great little camera, the EM should be about the same quality.
One tidbit about the Series E 50mm lens: It caused some controversy when it came out since it was the first lens from Nikon to have some functional components made of plastic. I believe it was also the first lens from Nikon to be labeled "Nikon" as opposed to "Nikkor".
I had one and I thought it was a great little lens. |
