Hey guys,
I am having my very first solo exhibition, i am very excited but I need to come up with names for these photographs. If anyone has any ideas at all please let me know :)
The exhibition is called "the sound of silence"
Thanks Lisa

I'm not particularly good with titles, but wanted to say congrats on your solo exhibition! How exciting! Where is it?

How about you just call them what they are instead of coming up with some stupid titles?

How about picking lyrics from out of the song? There seems to be quite a few that would fit. Maybe you could add on to the exhibit and do the whole song. Just an idea.

Hello darkness, my old friend,
Ive come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence.

Fools said i, you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, the words of the prophets

Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whisperd in the sounds of silence.

Kelli's idea is awesome! (Assuming of course that Simon nor Garfunkel objects.) Add my congrats on the exhibition and the very very fine quality of work you have that will be on display. Great stuff - very proud of you!!

do you think it would be strange to have lyrics on each photo, i mean when they are separated will they make sense still? I love this idea though.

Hang them in a way that you are following the song, it would all make sense that way. You might even get an overly enthusiastic buyer who wants the whole song!

You'll need permission to use the lyrics unless their your own or they're in the public domain. Just like photographers, lyricists won't appreciate unauthorized use of their work.

Hi Lisa - sounds very exciting and should be very successful!

Here's all I got:

If a tree falls...

A Moment Of

The Quiet Path

Withered Calm or Autumn Tranquility

Stealth Watchbird

Broken Silence

Hope those are at least useful to spawn ideas.

thanks Ken, i am finding this the hardest part. I am actually considering that they have no titles and let the potential buyer decide on what he/she feels about them

what are your thoughts on that?

How about music terms Here's a site with the definitions to the terms. Music Terms

I tried to match the definitions with the pictures. It is fun to play around with anyway.

A cappella

Adagio

Consonance

Baroque

Cadence

Maestro

Legato

Interlude

Ensemble

Expressivo

Cantata

Grazioso

Solo

Allegro

Cavatina

If people ask me what the titles are I can say......

in silence, there is no words

the words are in your own heads

i decided that they will have no titles. If they werent for sale I would title them what I see them as, but seeing as they are for sale i decided to leave it up to the buyer what they interpret the photo to be. :)

thanks all for your help
