Hi all,
Sorry...this isn't about a camera's Av mode. ;-)
As the first step of my new September DPC "makeover", I have had my username changed from "lesgainous" to AperturePriority.
The next step in my self-proclaimed makeover is to order my the new Canon 40D body and a couple of IS lenses. Seeing that the U.S. market is up today, my limit-order trade executed this morning, so I'll be placing the order in the next couple of days--unless I find a decent price locally (southern California). My first stop will be to check out my local Samy's Camera store.

Does that mean that your sig is going to contain EXIF data from now on? |

Samy's is good with *online* prices, comparible to B+H. But don't expect to walk in and get the web price though. At my local store, some salespeople seem to mark up quite a bit in-store (for commission, etc) and almost laugh at you when you tell them "but the price on your website is..." They are very quick to make a sale, not very helpful, and usually mark up quite a bit. On the other hand, some others are very helpful, who take their time helping you, and I've found these are the salespeople who don't mark-up the prices too high. But to be safe, order online if you can.
Good luck on your makeover. |

That's right. Their online store and their brick-n-mortar stores are two totally different organizations. You can't take a camera to a store if you bought it online (at least not for free service).

Thanks...I hope to buy the new 40D this weekend!

Les, I warned you that the witness protection program is useless if you announce your new identity to the world!
One more thing: there is NO "v" in Aperture Priority. One of those things that make ya go "huh?" (or "WTF?" as the case may be). ...for that matter there is no "T" OR "v" in shutter priority. Me thinks Photography is unnecessarily technical.

Years ago, in my film camera days, the abbreviations were:
AV = Aperture Value
TV = Time Value (shutter time)
It's just that legacy terms stick around way too long, IMHO.

Ahhh thanks! Well at least those terms superceded the cave painting symbols used prior to them. :) |
