I wanted to get some feedback from the masses on this ...
Is a dSLR any harder than a point-and-shoot?

Hypothetical: You and your wife are going to ... let say a safari in Africa. She wants faster response than she gets from her point-and-shoot. She's gonna be shooting lions/tigers ... leopards, cheetahs, etc.

BUT! ... She's a point-and-shooter ... she wants quick, good shots without having to take a class. Recommend a camera for her?? Money isn't a problem but let's not be ridiculous ;)

Canon 40D, 35-350L lens (or some other 10X zoom), set camera to the "Auto" or "P" settings.

It'll bacically behave like a PnS, but with much higher quality and better response.
