Back to School only has 55 entries with 40 minutes to go. What, some of you don't like homework?
looks like I'm a shoe-in for a top 60 placement!

I just never got around to it, I guess.
Let's see, at 1.5 minutes (amount of time it is taking each pic to load), then looking at it for a few seconds, deciding on vote and whether or not to comment, it is conceivable that I could vote on this one in just under 2 hours.
That is if my computer doesn't decide to disconnect in between shots.

With my new DSL, my wife and I will likely vote on all of them tonight! I love it! |

I vote on every entry of every challenge right away (even the 280 entry challenges). I zip through them pretty quickly and give them an 'impact' vote. I later go through them and adjust votes up or down and give comments based upon better scrutiny. My gut feeling votes are very accurate, though. I usually don't have to change many votes...
I have cable access, so it is feasible to do it quickly.

There, I feel better. Up until a week or so ago, I voted on every shot too, at least in the challenges where I had a picture. I also did the two or three pass thing sorting the pictures. Now, I'm just lucky to get in my 20%.

I'm with you Karmat!! I would gladly pay the $50.00 a month for some kind of high speed internet access...but I live in the sticks, where the dinosaurs are still spotted every now and again. Well....I need to go out to the well and pump me out a drink O water! Later Ya'll! :)

Both DISH and DirecTV offer Internet access via satellite. Two-way satellite connection. No phone line required.
Last I checked, start up costs were around $300, but monthly was reasonable.
Latency sucks so you can't play video games or do VPN (Remote Desktop) stuff, but web browsing and email are just fine.

We checked into the satellite stuff as well. We live in a mountainous area, in a cove and are surrounded by mountains on basically three of the four sides. Satellite would work well at different times of the year and day, apparently.
I am not exaggerating when I say that dial up is the only alternative we have. As soon as something comes along, we'll get it.
