So, the other day, I was working away intently on my laptop and it was online. Then, we had a huge thunderstorm hit very quickly. I went through the house "unhooking" all the computers, phone cords, etc.
After the storm (a rather intense one, I might add, but no pictures because I was holding a very scared 2 yo), I went to get back online.
"There is no dialtone."
This is not unusual after a storm. Usually, I can unplug a phone cord or two and everything gets back to normal.
Things I've (or my husband has) done:
* Re-booted the laptop.
* Removed the battery insuring it was completely "dead."
* Re-booted again.
* Tried another phone cord
* Tried another phone jack (or two)
The phones work fine. However, if you are holding a phone and plug in the phone cord connected to the laptop, you get that "Internet" sound, and still a message of "There is no dial tone." There may have been some other stuff we tried, but I don't remember.
So, is there something obvious we haven't tried, or is it sunk?
(Oh yea, dial up or no Internet are my only two options)
