//www.google.com/alerts

So you punch in a search term, like your name or your DPC username, etc. and the all powerful Google Gods will email you whenever that search term shows up on the web. Just think of it, an email whenever your name is mentioned.... or your image is stolen..... ;)

I just signed up yesterday, but yeah, got a couple of emails right off. Its funny to see where your name pops up and if its someplace you don't like you can handle it. :)

I've been getting Google alerts for my name and my website name for a couple of years now. Funny how many other people are out there with my name. LOL

While the idea is good, this is another way for Google (and whom ever they sell it too) to keep track of what you are watching so they can target their ads and spam to what interests you. Tracking web useage has been going on since, well, since Al Gore invented the internet. ;D

Cindi

Thank you for posting this, I put an alert in for my wifes name and got an email already. Found out that her ex-husband has a tax lien in his name with MY ADDRESS! The bastard has never lived at that address, it was a new construction, we moved in right when it got done. I have contacted the state about it and since it doesn't list her also, I acted like I never heard of the person and why would it list my address and that I was now worried the person was trying to use my address for identity theft.

btw...if you are gonna put in your actual name, place it in quotes " " otherwise you get a lot of crap lol...had to go back and edit mine...who knew scott and bacon were common searchs lol.

Even quotes wouldn't help me. Every time someone named Kelli stated something, it would pop up. LOL!

sorry I should have written that as: "if you are going to put in your FULL name (first and last)"...my bad. I did it with my name here, my website, my first and last and even my first middle and last since I use that with signing work.

But, my full name is Kelli States! I've tried to google myself before and I get a bunch of articles and such with "Kelli states such and such". LOL!
