Each year our city hosts the Sugarcane Festival. I would have to say it is equivalent to everyone else's County Fairs. I enjoy volunteering for the photography show set up, and of course entering a few of my photos.

The Junior Division doesn't get many entries, so I have been waiting for my son to be old enough to participate. The year has come! I decided to engage his Cub Scout Den and give them a little lesson in making good photos and at the same time encourage the boys to participate in the Festival's Photography Show. They get so few entries, that I expect each boy will receive a ribbon of some sort. Anyway...really excited and would love to see this talented bunch doing similar programs in your area!

What an excellent way to introduce photography to the kids - I'm sure they'll love it.

Cubs are young though (at least here, they're about only 8-9 years old), so keep it pretty low-key and just have fun !

Be quick about it! - I have been doing cub scouts for 4 years and one thing you need to remember is that you will only have about 10-15 minutes of time where they will really pay attention. Break it up, bring some examples of 'good photos' and let them try some stuff. Hands on works much better than talking to them...

Have fun and good luck..
