After many weeks pondering I decided to go for the 200d the sigma 10-20 and the nikon 70-300 Vr

So I went in to my local, and asked for the same, I was told their would be a 2-3 month wait on the 200d, 2 weeks for the 70-300 and that the 10-20 didnt exist. I felt as if Id sliped into an alternate realtity, Id been talking to another sales person in the city about all of it and he said no worries.

So crestfallen I trudged into the city and got the lot there instead. Apparently the sigma does exist, but will not be in until tuesday. So whohoo for me, Now I just have to wait for the battery to charge up :(

Btw the body didnt come with a body cap. That wouldnt be normal would it?

If I recall correctly, back in the day Nikon did not include body caps with their bodies. Why? Don't ask me. So it wouldn't surprise me... If you have only the one body, it's not an issue: there's always a lens on it. And with digital, need for multiple bodies is lessened. In the film days, we'd have to have several bodies for transparency, color print, and B/W, and we'd carry them without lenses on them and swap the same lens around as we progressed through a shoot. This was architectural work... So we needed the caps, and had to buy them extra.

i have had body caps for every nikon I have owned so far. including the d200.

I have also heard at two local shops that the D-200 is near imposible to stock now. If I were you, soon as that battery is charged. check the count on the shutter. make sure you did not get a repackaged item.

D200s are in stock everywhere here... and cheap! Stores have piles of them at around $1200 each.

BTW... mine came with the body cap...

Shoot a jpg with the body and check the EXIF to see if it has a large number of cliks on it. Do a google search on opanda for software to integrate with your browser to check EXIF. All Nikon DSLRs should come with a body cap. Maybe you bought a used camera.....

Preview Extractor will give the shutter count of the camera. My D200 came with a body cap.

Did you shoot this as RAW and then convert to JPG? or did you shoot JPG from camera? The number will only show up in the latter circumstance. Check the date set in your camera. I'm seeing 2005. The D200 didn't exist in 2005. If you didn't set the date when you took the camera out of the box, somebody else did.

Thanks for looking, I shot it as a jpg and resized in Photoshop, I hadnt set the date but the manual says that it defaults to jan 1 2005 for som od reason, so thats ok. Still no luck with the shutter count hey? :(
