Looks like it's finally here! Not really what I was hoping for....
//labs.istrasoft.be/rawshooter-to-lightroom-migrator-tool/
Features :
Migrates the ratings and all the flags from RWS to XMP sidecar files
Keeps all previously set XMP metadata : rating stars, picks, flags, colors, shadow copies, snapshots, and so on.
Requires the RAW files to be imported into a Lightroom database first and having metadata exported to XMP sidecar files.
Requires the metadata to be imported back into Lightroom after migration.
Nothing else from RawShooter is migrated, just ratings and flags.
Does not alter the original RWS sidecar files.
Scans drive for available folders to migrate, with sub selection.
Auto-saves a copy of the original XMP sidecars before injecting RWS flags into them.
The ratings and flags in RawShooter are converted to Lightroom keywords which is the only way to add these news ratings from RawShooter while preserving existing Lightroom star ratings, picks colors and everything.
If you wish to convert these to your own rating scheme, you just have to select all the pictures with one of the RawShooter keywords and apply what you want to them, pick, star rating, color label, whatever.

Hi David, A bit off topic but it's been on my mind...
After I run a batch of RAW files through lightroom and export them to JPG, can I remove the folder from the LR folder collection(shown on LH side of screen) but keep the adjustments? Or, are my adjustments discarded? Or do they reside in the folder on my HD and show up again if i reimport the RAW images into my LR library?
My LR database is getting large, but I don't want to lose the RAW adjustments. I'm threadjacking so I'll PM you if that's better. Thanks for your help. |

I keep all of my adjustments in the .XMP files. It even stores the ratings and such. I've trashed my entire LR database several times because I can't stand how large the thing gets. It's totally useless to me. The only thing I think it's good for is keywording and I don't ever do any keywording.
But if you're not sure ... back it up first. Then delete it and see what you have left.
For what it's worth, I have LR create the .XMP files on import so they are always there.
This also means that I can back up a directory of .CR2 and .XMP files and move the files "offline" and restore them later WITHOUT having to worry about my LR database.

So, the .XMP is the same as the RWS files generated in RS?
Is the creation of XMP files automatic or does it need to be selected on import? And are they created in the same folder as the CR2 files?
Sorry for all of the questions.
I should spend some time with the instructions but I normally just dive in and learn as I go. I'll experiment some more... thanks! |

There is an option inside of LR settings to have it create the files on import. And yes, they are created right next to the .CR2 files. I preferred RSP's .RWSettings directory, keeping the raw files directory pure, but it works just as well, so no complaints there.

Thanks David. I disappeared for a while...My home computer crashed tonight so i've been working on restoring files from my other HD's. :( Thank goodness for a complete backup about 1 week ago.
Hope I didn't jack the thread to much. |
