Im looking to have some prints made of some of my photos, any Calgary Photog's have any advice on any reputable places that I can have 8x10 or larger prints made?

I had a look at Black's online and although I don't like them to begin with, reading through their terms it looks like if I send the prints to them I give them the rights to modify and use my prints for their own advertising and what ever without any compensation or credit to me and that just does not sit well with me...

Careful with Blacks. They adjust the images before printing. I had a calender done and whatever they did gave some of the images a blue cast. I didn't see a place to indicate print as is either.

Does the Camera Store or Vistek have a pro lab? If they do you may want to try there. At least you'd be able to discuss your images with someone before they are printed.

I know the camera store farms the prints out but cant remember off hand as to who they send them out to. I will NEVER buy anything from Blacks as every time Ive ever walked in there its always a pain to buy anything as usually the guys behind the counter know nothing of photography at all...

you know, as a member, you can order your own prints from DPC Prints at very reasonable prices and the print quality is absolutely gorgeous. :)

Also, a great place is West Canadian (westcanadian.com/.

Despite their over the top "we do corporate crap" website they really make a great print. Prices are reasonable too.

Yes I am well aware about DPC Prints and have heard nothing but good about them and may yet give it a try but a) I like to shop around for just about anything and b) I am in Canada so I have to take in to account the exchange rate and shipping costs...

There is a pro printing shop right near Saneal cameras on 11th ave SW. They only do printing for pros but I am not sure how they determine that. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the place though. Apparently they are a little more money but they do incredible work.

There we go:

Technicare

It looks like you don't HAVE to be a pro but you need to be serious photographer. (Pro or a photography student).

If you have a calibrated monitor and you are using photoshop they will also be glad to give you their printer profiles so you can preview too so you can be sure you are getting accurate colors in your prints.
