:(

Ah well, it's all a learning curve I suppose.

Nope...the lowest is this image with a score of 1.8090.

Heh, I feel better now.

I am hoping that I come last in this challenge, that way, I am the best of the worst at filling the frame.

Yes how do you fill the frame and still have an interesting focal point!

See my entry after the challenge is over. I surely have done it.

Same here.

Sweetie...I often get PM's about the comparison of my images to others...and the fact that people keep hitting a brick wall.

I tell people that the higher your score is and the more often it is up there...then the more often you will hit that brick wall. Look at any top scorers profile and click on the little arrow above their average and you will see some low scores. I have entered a lot of challenges...and you will see a lot of low averages in there.

Also remember this....it does not matter if you score low on this site...as it does not mean you are a bad photographer or editor. DPC is a client...treat it as such. One clients likings are not the same as another clients likings....so high scores on here only means that the photographer has come close to meeting this clients needs.

Okay??

Now chin up girl...and get out there and show the world who you are!

Same here, but the voters seem to believe the "interesting focal point" is the whole subject

I think that the challenge description opens up lot of room of ambiguity. For example we in this whole thread are debating that the subject inside the frame is okey, where as some people argue that subject should fill the frame. (as the title suggests).
So we will see lots of DNMC voting.
I feel the people who filled the frame by subject to its brim (like me) will eventually score high because there is no room for dnmc thought (if the photo is good enough).

Hey, at least the frame has been filled... with a background. Hrm... how to understand that one?!

Anyhow, a little while back, there was someone who suggested looking for a solution.

I posted a little something I came up with on a parallel line of thought here.

Feel free to discuss.

You speak sense :)

Yep - I agree. And i'm also learning different techniques as I go along in each challenge.

In terms of photography, i'm pretty much a newb. I've been taking pictures for years, but only started learning how to edit photos (self-taught) over the past year. After realising that I have a good eye for a shot, and believing that I could take it further, I just enrolled on a digital photography course which I start in September. Can't wait :)

Thanks Judi.

Compose your photograph so that nothing but your subject is in the frame.

Honestly if I were on the SC I would be pulling my hair out. I would love someone to explain to me what part of "nothing but" is up for interp?

As a side note I have not given out any dnmc or 1,2,3

Ummm...why? The challenge description has nothing to do with the validity of a challenge entry, i.e. - no penalties/infractions involved. The SC only comes into play when a rule is broken like editing methods, date validation, etc...
