Florida Photographers' Convention

Hey, guys! Hello from Orlando where I am attendng the Florida Professional Photographer's convention (today is day 2 of 4). Any DPCers around here I should meet before I go home? There are several hundred photographers around here, seminars, print competition, etc... its really a lot of fun. We had a hell-uv-a-party last night & there is another one planned tonight. :D

In the print competition I entered 4 prints - only one merited! :/ That's okay though, I'm not upset. I'm surprised, however, since the one that merited is the one I thought would score poorly and the ones I thought would score better both landed at 78 :/ (It takes a score of 80 to earn a merit - 30 merits earns Master of Photography).

Trade show started today and I've already purchased a new battery grip & some extra batteries. Got more shopping to do in a bit... :D

I'm on the Convention Photography committee, so already got to use my new grip! :) Yay!

Oooooh forgot to mention the best part.... I got to play with the 40D a bit ago! Its very very cool! I'm already planning to purchase one!

Hi Cindi; Where in Florida are you? I'll be back over from Europe sometime in late October for a few weeks, so might try to drum up some interest in drinking heavily...erm...I mean making photos then...

LOL YES! It felt very much that way while watching the judging. :P

I just got home a few minutes ago and am sooooo glad to be in a quiet place for the first time in almost a week. What a party! I highly recommend attending a state convention -- great place to find out what's new and terrific in the industry. Lots of seminars too, to find out what everyone else is doing & what's worked for them.

Besides the batteries & grip, I also picked up EyeOne monitor calibrator & a few other things. I think I sold about 30 Gary Fong WhaleTails too.... swear I was asked a zillion times "What is that? Do you like it? How does it work?" etc. I should get commission!! :D

Sooooo what'd I miss around here? Any good drama? Gossip? Do tell..... :)

I was only 2 hours south of you. :P
