"The lunar eclipse will start at about 6.50pm on Tuesday August 28 and by 7.50pm the moon will be totally obscured by the Earth's shadow.

At about 9.23pm, the moon will start to reappear, becoming completely visible by about 10.30pm."

Can anyone tell me what are the best camera settings are to capture this?

Me tooo...

If my memory is correct you need to use a fast shutter speed to capture the moon, I'm not sure if this is the same for a Blood Moon because most of the light will be filtered leaving only the Red to filter through.

This one was shot with these settings. I would assume a 'blood moon' would not be as bright so a little different settings.

Aperture: F9
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/30

ETA: This was shot with the 70-200F4

I asked strangeghost to help me :) this is his reply

"Regardless, if you've shot the moon before, you know that it's bright, so you'll need a fairly fast shutter, try 1/100th to 1/250th or so. As the partial phases of the eclipse proceed, the moon will grow dimmer, so your shutter speeds will need to lengthen. At totality, when the moon is deepest orange or red, your exposures may need to be upwards of 1-2 seconds. If you're shooting telephoto, the earth's rotation will be problematic in that time period, so you may want to boost your ISO to keep shutter speeds down to 1/30th or lower."

hope you didnt mind John :)

Heh, as usual, miserable weather here in Auckland obscuring our view of it tonight. I was really looking forward to having a go at this :(
