I've been looking through some past challenges and noticed a few "Picture Removed" entries, quite often on the first few pages. Curious as to why. |

That's the way they do post-challenge DQ's now, rather than moving everything behind it up one spot.

Well, rats. That takes away all hopes I have of moving from 190th to 189th on any given DQ.
But I don't know that that's the reason - I didn't see anything in the challenge I was looking at that was DQ'd that would have placed 5th... weird. Maybe someone got famous and pulled all their pictures to sell.

Hypothetically speaking - what happens if the blue, red, or yellow ribbon wining get removed and DPC don't move up the 4th, 5th, etc. photographs. Will that challenge be without one of the ribbons? |

I think there's a difference between something getting DQ'd and something being removed for other reasons. The first rightfully affects placings. The latter doesn't because that photo held some spot in the challenge results legally as did all other shots in that challenge. The results stand even if the photog wants their works rm'd from the site.
So says I anyway. Chief Site Censor and all. |

For some of the challenges (like Natural Light Portrait and Solo) it has to do with ties at the top placements. If there's two of one ribbon, there's a "dummy" removed image below to show them on the front page (or something like that).

Good question. I have no idea (and no intention to try). But I'll ask :) |

I see what you are saying, and that makes more sense. If the photo or processing break the rules (spot editing in basic, text on the photo, wrong date), then it's a DQ and everything moves up. If it is the person who breaks the rules (multiple accounts, etc.), then it's a removal. That makes sense in theory.
But what if one of the ribbons is from a multiple account holder? What happens then? Would there be no ribbon in that spot?
And was the multiple account holder ever apprehended in the Children's Toy challenge?

It's so hard to find a decent public humiliation these days... |

pilloried? I don't know. We gave them a bunch of pills to swallow, but I don't know if they turned into pillars. |
