I've been working tonight on a couple of digital "scrapbook" pages. These are really going to be intended as an 11x14 print item available for purchase. I thought the parents might want something put together like this, and I really enjoy doing it anyway.
I will probably eventually try putting together some layouts for the photo books that are popular as well. I'd love some comments and also to see some other examples of "layouts" beyond the typical print sizes.

You've done a nice job on these.
For a scrapbook I think personal touches are needed and I think you've done that here.
You might want to add momentos or favourite things to the pages. |

Have you considered doing a tutorial on how you created these. There are a lot of scrapbookers out there who would love to learn how to make their own. |

Well, I'm kind of learning as I go. My collages have typically been more like this one:
Which people have liked, but I have wanted to learn how to use the scrapbooking technique to add some color, texture, and interest to the collage. I'm not even sure I'm doing it the "right" way or easy way, but I will be happy to write up a "how-to" in the next few days.
Thanks for the comments! |

Scrapbooking. Possibly the only recreational activity short of a robust heroin addiction that is more of a money sink than photography.
My wife is really, really into scrapbooking and recently there have been more and more offerings of a digital sort where you can drag/drop your shots on to a digital page such as these and then print the whole thing at once.
These look quite nice. You can make a load of money if you seriously pursue this and find some way to market your efforts. When I say load of money, picture getting a slice of the sort of cash it takes to fill a 24'x18' room from floor to ceiling with scrapbook related materials leaving barely enough room to wiggle a chair up to a couple square feet of usuable desk area.... |

LOL...yep...I have had friends really invest in major scrapbooking elements - including very large organizers and cases to keep everything in. We also have a "crop" at our church every month. That's where a group of folks gather to work on their scrapbooking all together. It's a very social happening and it's why a lot of people buy the fancy cases - so their stuff is all portable. |

very nice work...funny this should come up, my wife has a house full of women scrappin right now...good thing I'm out of country lol. They come over every couple months and spend the entire weekend scrappin, they also have a retreat at least twice a year down at this lodge on a boyscout camp and usually have at least 12 women going. Loads of fun to see lol (most men are banned from there but I've had the rare opportunity to see them in their natural wildness, imagine 12 women, 3 days, no makeup and very few even brushing their hair lol).
She wants to do some digital scrapbooking (especially since she found out I have the wide format epson that will do 13" wide, she is just waiting for that bad boy to come home so she can steal it lol). I bought the low price version of Fotofusion and will most likly upgrade so she can do more of the scrapbooking stuff it offers. She'd be good at it but I might have to remind her to put her embelishments on AFTER it goes through the printer...(oh crap I used a scrapbooking term...please don't take my man card away...PLEASE, I'll drink a beer if that would help) ;)

My Mom and sister are huge scrapbookers! I love the way the pages look but I haven't got the patience to sit for hours cutting paper and stamping and glueing. I love the digital pages!! I am not a wiz with photoshop, but am learning. I think this is more my style. I usually just look at the photos on the pages anyway. That's the whole point of scrapbooking I think. At least with digital pages I can practice my photo editing skills(not that I really have any). I'm not a man, but I wouldn't mind having a beer. I won't report you to the Man Police. |

My wife's scrapbooking is a good excuse for me to spend many hours taking photos, editing photos, buying more camera gear, etc. It's great to have complementary hobbies, but she says I take too many good photos now, and she can't keep up. Limiting the scrapbooking to only the best photos of our kids is apparently not an option, because they are all so good she can't bear to cull them. :)
