Picture's not perfect, but I was so happy to get anything even remotely good. It was my goal this summer to find one of these little guys (or girls in this case). They're only about the size of a nickel. Thought I'd share.

Excellent image, and congrats on finding the creature that were seeking. From the equipment list with the image, I would say that you were definitely ready when you found the butterfly.

I just read this last week, I had no idea that the endangered butterfly black market was such a big problem. It's sad that people can exploit just about anything, no matter how great or small. Just found this interesting...Butterfly Black Market

I'd say you've got 'em Justin. They aren't supposed to live in Texas. Perhaps not as endangered as they think?

I usually see around 1-5 everytime I go out. They are hard to see sometimes because they are so small and move really fast. Maybe the population moved over here LOL

There are lots of blue butterflies. elsapo's looks like a Ceraunus Blue to me.
All nice shots, BTW!

mmm maybe...but mine does have the bright orange at the bottom of the wings :/
edit: 2 more pics of the ones I see, they also have the bright orange
|
Ahh, definitely bright orange, a different pattern than the Ceraunus and a little "tail". Now that I've seen those shots, I think it might be an Edwards Hairstreak. Does this look more like it? |
