Could someone suggest me a free exif viewer utility.

IrfanView works well (on Windows) and can do a lot of other simple editing/file conversions as well.

Also, I think if you have Windows XP or later the EXIF will show up under the file's Properties.

If I only need the basics, I often view the Exif from my preview via "Microsoft RAW Image Viewer".

If I need something more exotic, I right click the file to bring up Opanda.

I have XP but the properties do not show much. I am looking for a small utility so that I could fill the exposure etc information when I submit challenge entries. so far I just leave it.

In that case, the free Microsoft RAW viewer will do what you want.

This sounds interesting for raw.

It is a stupid name...... it actually looks at jpgs, RAWS, and a whole bunch of other formats.

It is a step up from the old "Fax and Image Viewer" of whatever it is called again. It is still a simple little pre-viewer, but has the added exif information and a quick way to open it in your editing program.
