I remember when this was happening in Oregon in the 80s. The "hippies" from U. of O. were looking for toads and mushrooms in the woods and licking everything in site to get a buzzzzzz. I mean real toad licking :)

| Yeah, Leslie didn't quite hit the nail on the head with her answer...but I guess she was close enough to ease her reader's mind. I still can't get over, "Please let me know what camel toads are and how I might be able to tell if he is smoking, taking or licking them." And "Is this something the local authorities need to be alerted to in order to protect other partons at the pool or surrounding areas?" |

Haha, it is the news paper, how graphic of an explanation do you want?!
And this writer should have egged her on more, just for fun. Imagine being a 911 operator and getting a call "OH MY GOD, WE HAVE POTENTIAL CAMEL TOADS AT THE POOl, WE NEED SOMEONE OVER HERE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE BOYS GO NUTS LICKING THEM"

Reminds me of a great passage in the book (not movie) The World According to Garp, were young Garp (I think, it's been awhile) won't go swimming in the surf because he's scared of those fearsome and mythical creatures, the Under Toads. His mother, I think, gently explains the truth. Funny, I can't find a single reference to this on the net.
