I misread the challenge description and I want to remove my picture as i'm getting low votes for it not being what it's supposed to be, plus a few choice comments.
Can I remove my submission during a challenge or not?
Thanks |

Yes, you can. But if you do ask for a self disqualification, this will be counted on the DQs you have allowed to you. You can contact the Site Council to ask for the self DQ. Go to Help - Contact Us - DPCHallenge General Inquiry to get to Site Council.

You can remove a submission by contacting the Site Council and asking for a self DQ. Realize this actually counts as a DQ and if you get another in your next 25 entries you will be suspended from entering a challenge for a week.
Hope this helps,

Thanks guys.
Would I be better off just leaving it then? I'm happy with the picture, but it seems to be getting low votes (or some low votes) because of the wrong category. D'oh! It's my own fault! |

Personally I would leave it in and mark it down to experience. |

I would also leave it, there is no sense removing it. Sometimes we learn more from a good picture in a bad catorgory than a bad picture in the right one.
One more thing, as you go you will find the score isnt the true worth of this site. It is the comments, suggestions, and conversations that you will have here. You may even make a few friends as well.
Good Luck to you,

Leave it in. The only effect it will have is on your overall avg score. This is a virtual ribbon contest. No one cares that you may have low scoring images. Look at my entries. I have some 3s and 4s.

this is true.
The present soon becomes past and we are busy thinking about present.
I many times think that it should be all about art, but I suck at this also. |

As mentioned previously a low score will only affect your average. You haven't got a lot of challenges under your belt so it will probably affect it quite dramtically. The good news is the next challenge can bring your average right back up again.
For the times I've self-dq'd it was because I didn't feel the submission represented me well. I've had shots that scored lower that I left in because though they weren't well done, they were done in my style. Save those self-dq's for those shots where you look at and say "this really isn't something I want to claim". Strangly the one image in my portfolio with the most favorites is one of those shots I really wish I hadn't done.
Anyways...welcome to DPC!

IMHO for what it's worth. I've only asked for a self DQ once and that was because I'd accidentally used the wrong editing rules. I, like everyone else here, hate a low score. However it is what it is, my choice of entry. To take it out would only skew what is truly my average score...

Oh, Nichola......welcome to MY BOAT LOL!
I accidently entered my URBAN CHALLENGE entry this week into the RURAL CHALLENGE! LOL I felt really, really, incredibly stupid, ran into the forums, doing just what you've done and you know what? It's sitting there in Rural, voters understanding it was a "mistake" and even though my score is horrid....unbelievably horrid (as it should be LOL)....I am seeing just how nice a lot of people are here at DPC!
There are a FEW that are not so nice......but, hey......welcome to DPC! You'll learn to let that roll off of your back because there are far more nice people in here than the "rotten eggs" LOL!
Don't let it spoil your day. Recognize that "poor score" for what it is and let me tell you, even when you do understand the challenge criteria and THINK that you've got a "great entry"....those scores can knock ya for a spin and have you pounding your computer and wanting to throw your camera out a window! *grin* We all have it happen! Hang in there.....you're just at the beginning of your ride! SCREAM! LOL

I saw more than one "mistaken" entry in each challenge (Urban in Rural or Rural in Urban), and it makes me wonder if it was intentional or an accident like yours. lol
Of course it may be that something outside the frame would make me change my mind about it looking either urban or rural! |
