Someone has probably commented on this before, I really don't understand why voters (no camera) score images much lower than the votes of those with cameras. Are they rebelling that they can only vote in open challenges? :)
Below are the voting results from the last two open challenges I entered. Mind the gaps...
Toys II
Avg (camera): 5.8680
Avg (no camera): 3.6667
Votes: 206
Still Life III
Avg (camera): 6.0898
Avg (no camera): 5.2500
Votes: 171
Any thoughts? |

I've noticed that lately too.
I know a couple of accounts were closed this week. I wonder if there are more out there. |

I think its probably because there are less voters without cameras then there are with, so that each of their votes has a greater impact on your overall average.
Its just how averages work....the larger the amount of voters, the smaller each voters impact has on the overall total. |

And as an example:
A baseball player has been up to bat 3 times and gotten a hit each time, his 4th time up, he strikes out....his batting average drops from 1.000 to .750
A baseball player has been up 39 times, and has hit successfully each time, and strikes out on his 40th at bat, his average drops from 1.000 to .975 |

I certainly get the weighted average analogy,I just can't understand why their votes are so much lower. |

Its not!!
Its probably along the same lines as your normal voting, but if you think about it, if you have 10 voters, it only takes 1 bad vote to really lower your score a lot. |

"Their" votes aren't always lower...
Camera 6.237, No Camera 7.333
Camera 6.093, No Camera 6.300
Camera 5.770, No Camera 6.300
Camera 4.325, No Camera 5.000
Camera 4.292, No Camera 5.000
Camera 4.176, No Camera 6.200
Camera 4.268, No Camera 4.500
Camera 3.691, No Camera 5.000
Camera 3.636, No Camera 4.778
...some of these image holders may be thanking the "No Camera" voters. :)
There are more, but you get the drift from this. Actually, it does seem that the "No Camera" voters have a tendency to vote up the images that overall score higher with everyone else, and vice-versa. Hmmm. The numbers (many even) also indicate a low number of voters voting without a camera. |

It appears then that my experience is not indicative of the overall voting. |
