Remember these photo's?

Well, I decided to do this again. But then with a different setting and location, different bird and different model!

Enjoy. "Read" the photo's like a story, from left to right.

Comments are welcome, always!

thanks!

I've been thinking about using the dove for free study, but I'd rather see the series as a whole. One single photo doesn't have the impact that all photos together do have.

Although I agree that as a set the photos are stunningly beautiful I think that one like where the girl is releasing the dove could easily stand on its own, but thats just my opinion :)

Awesome either way, great job!

Although I think this series is lovely, I much prefer the original series. It was somehow more ingeniously individual than these, which could almost be interpreted to be clichéd. They're pleasing in their own right, but I really liked the quirky indivdual uniqueness of the original series much better.

thanks for your honest opinion Louis, I can only appreaciate that.

Allthough I do understand what you mean, you can see these new series as a way to try and perfection the idea. The first shoot was with a fake-bird, and I wanted to make a less dark-mooded series of these. That's why I chose for the white dove.

The cliche-part is true. But for me it doesn't put "down" the series on it's own.

Pff, I'm tired now and off to bed, I hope I was a bit clear what I said. I'll re-read it tomorrow ;)

Agreed, the real bird and the closeup on it is lovely, and as I say, this series is beautiful on its own (and so is the model). I especially like:

Wow - just fantastic series! All great, but I love this one especially:

Looks cool if you watch it in reverse also. ;-)

Thank you all for the great comments!

I'll tell a bit how this all worked.

I hired 2 white doves (yes, you can hire them! for marriages, business openings, and, of course photoshoots)

We did the whole set with the first dove, and she was a fantastic model. Did everything we wanted. I hired two doves, to have a back-up plan.

The photo where she flies away was made in burst-mode and the ONLY one where she was on! At the photo before this one, she was still in the hands of the model, and the next photo she was gone!
Thank god for digital photography, I checked and this one came out right. Was shaking from excitement!! This just had to be right.

Ok, so I wanted to do the "throw-away-photo" again with the 2nd dove. I'm sure it was a male-dove. I gently got him out of the cage, he made a move, and flew away!!! Bastard!!!!

So, yes, this was the only one with the flying dove on it. I did do some photoshopping on it, because the dove was very close to her hands, and the DoF was very very wide. I moved the dove and made a bit DoF myself, that's all :)

Time, places, creativity, models - sheesh - you have it all!
Nice set of shots - makes a cool storyboard.

ETA: I forgot to add one of the most important things: Talent!
