I saw this on ebay today while looking at Sigma flashes. Would this work well you think? Looks like it would be like having a small softbox! What do you think?

To me, it looks like it would work pretty well. Though, you have to consider the fact you might look like a complete goof walking around with that. =D

Will definitely work well with in fairly close proximity. You won't be able to shoot across a large room with it, but for fairly closeup work, it'll do the deed.

Actually, these are becoming more and more popular, and much cheaper than anything Fong sells.

I have used a smaller version, I may purchase one of these though, can use it as pillow

And if it gets a hole in it, you wasted $10. I think you could make the same thing with a small frosted plastic bag.
Here's a whole list of affordable plastic ones.

hey cool, i just ordered a wireless flash trigger+receiver in this shop, it think i will get me one more receiver plus two of those goofy diffusers...;)
good thing with this diffuser is that it fits almost every flash, most of the diffusers you can buy out there only fit one particular flash.
