I am fairly new to the world of DP, and learning fast. I was recently asked to take some shots of a buddies Automotive shop so he could have some images to use on his website, in ad's and hang in the waiting room. With the limited time and subjects to work with I came up with a few selections I was fairly happy with. My Question is what are they worth? And how do I come up with a pricing plan, keeping in mind that I am not a professional, but there is a fair amount of effort and equipment involved. Just don't know. Any help is appreciated!!

sounds like a cool project! my first suggestion would be to set up the pricing before hand... i guess if he is your friend, this is a little less important... but i learned the hard way in coming up with the pricing after the fact. so just as a side note... in the future you should establish all that pricing stuff before you take your time to shoot/post process the photos.

now... how many photos are there? how much time did you spend total?

Spent, hour to hour and a half shooting, and 2-3 hours editing. I won't end up charging him, was more intrested in building up my portfolio. But for future jobs I would like to have something set out beforehand.

I shot about 130 pics and ended up with five finished. See Below.

really awesome work jeff. i especially like the 4th one. the tight crop on all of them works great. if you're still interested in what to charge for the future... i would have charged about $300 for the whole gig (on location photo shoot, editing time, and then a gaurantee of 5-10 shots) if they ended up wanting more than 5-10 shots i would charge per photo after that. i think thats a pretty reasonable price.... but.... i will mention that i dont really know what im doing. im just getting started learning the business of photography so you might want to get some opinions from others, as well.

That seems fair, If you average 1 shot every 30 min(including the shoot and editing) charging $50-75/ a pic is pretty reasonable. 5 shots = 250-375ish. Hmm sounds good.
