The international competitions invite submissions from other countries - there are about 30 listed, including Netherlands, Croatia, China etc. Follow link here.

But did anyone bother to read the requirement to send only original unedited images and they have to be compressed jpeg under 2mb....right...what about RAW and cameras with files bigger than 2mb?

Hee Hee. It looks like I bought this phone camera just in time.. now to set it down to 2MP and start running around local alleys with my optical slave flash in hand...

perhaps before the photograph you must sustain the test reading in correct english the rules and the instructions of the camera that you could win :P
P.S. in the italian section there isn't any contest

Yes, it appears the competition is only open to subjects of the British Empire.

"Minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable."

This flies fair in the face of the 2 mb unmodified crap. I believe you can probably just do a minimum edit like DPC's basic and you'll be ok. I'm going to enter an image of mine just for giggles and laughs.

their action isn't correct! a little link to the basic editing link on DPC was possible :)

A very disturbing trend lately where huge corporations harvest thousands of images for free under the guise of running a "photo contest". Under their "license clause":

"By entering the Contest, all entrants grant an irrevocable perpetual non-exclusive license to Authorized Parties, to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries (along with a name credit) in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter known..."

So even if you don't win anything they can use your image for ever and make money out of it...

Thats for sure, I hope everyone doesn't think that every shot in the NGM is a professional shot. They steal em through contests. Thieving basterds..... on that note, I shall submit..... :P

One small point:

.... in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, ...

Yes, they get the image for free but only to be used in connection with the contest.

Not defending, just clarifying since the the assumption was made that images could be used for anything.

mmmm for a NGP contest you must have a really unique photo. the technical perfection should be normal but here we speak of something that must be unique. as landscape I think that could be captured only in a very unique land. securely Larus and the icelanders have a good possibilities, securely I think to the some landscape in great area in USA (as view in some challenge here) but with something of unique. As people securely not portraits in studio but street photography is the true field of game. For a good chance with exotical environment could be an idea for Goodmann or librodo. Animals is a category for all, I think, but must be a great image not in a zoo. Perhaps I have written only mistaken things but this is my thought (if it's comprehensible).
Sorry for all the other users but I have remembered only the first photographer that are in my mind, securely there are many other photographer that can take great images.
Unfortunately I am not in this group but will be interesting look your submissions at the end of the contest (because i think that nobody will can resiste to submit here his works) :)

Good Luck to everyone!!! :)

Some more interesting things about this contest:
- Categories: (1) People; (2) Landscapes; (3) Animals; and (4) Photo Essay
- Images may be up to 3 years old
- Not limited to digital - i.e. can scan negatives, etc.
- Must submit original "out of camera" file (possibly unfair against the scanned entries)
- 2MB max filesize, greater than 1600px on the large dimension
- First prize: $1000 camera kit, no cash alternative

IMO, not really worth working very hard for, but if you've got something less than 3 years old lying around... and what's up with 2MB - I hope your image isn't of anything too textured!

What's your idea about Photo Essay: "The Photo Essay may contain up to ten (10) photographs and must depict a story". Does that mean they need to be a sequence of the same people / places / things over a period of time? Or pictured based on a similar theme?
