Yeah, wouldn't it be neat to have animal senses for a day. |

Oldtimers around here talk about "the smell of death." If that is a truth, that is probably what Oscar "likes." |

so what they are saying is the grim reaper is not this cloaked figure with a sickle but a four legged feline?
And people wonder why I like dogs better :P

Apparnetly dogs can tell you if you have cancer, so if you have a dog and a cat at home, you never need to go to a doctor again. |

I bet the patients hate that cat, chasing it away any time it comes near! "Not yet, go away!" |

Hahah. The article said the patients are too far gone by the time the cat comes in for a final visit to notice that hes even there. Not to mention most of these people are in the very final stages of alzheimers so they probably are so in their own world that they owuldnt recognize the cat there. |

I seen a story like this about 8 or 9 years ago on 20/20 or 60 Minutes. At that time the focus was more on if the Pets should be allowed in the nursing homes. Was quite amazing how the cats would always go to the dying people. To this day I freak out when our cat crawls into bed with us at night. |

I wonder if the same holds true with a Tiger or a Lion, if they come up close to you then your time on this earth is very limited? or could be just a domestic pet thig also...

I think with them it would be that your time would be limited because they came close... tooooooo close...
Animal senses are magnitudes more powerful than ours. With all the chemical changes in our bodies because of illness and death it's not surprising that they can detect them when we can't (or don't).
Dogs have a documented record of sensing the onset of seizures and detecting cancers, so why is it all that surprising that cats can diagnose death?
I think it would be a wonderful comfort though, to have one curled up with me as I slipped away..... |
