Lately been totally down, but my photography has been a great sense of enjoyment for me.
I like to start this thread, so we can personally put our comments that others have left us on our images, that move us in some way.
This happened to me this morning, with this wonderful comment. I now feel ten feet tall today, and can face the world with confidence again.....

You and your photos both are so very moving, sherpet and people like her make this site an enjoyable experience for us that have opportunity to see the wonderful images that she post here, if only everyone could stop now an then and smell the roses, what an ideal world we would have then.... jonnienye, love your style!

Thanks for the comment pineapple! After having one flop-scoring photo after another recently, this comment gave me encouragement.
By pineapple: I like coming back long after a challenge has finished to enjoy the images for what they're worth outside the confines of the rules. It's interesting how different some photos appear when one is not having to vote them up or down. For instance, this quiet sample of non-urban life sticks in my mind. It has a persistence. In my own collection of photos, it is images like this which remind me of moments in time and they are valuable to me. Nice work - as is much in your folio... |

For some reason, this comment sticks with me. It was the first time I felt like a photographer.
e301: Ah, those comments make me smile. I'm sure I remember commenting on this, but whetever - I certainly remember looking at it. Some photos creep up on you, some slap you round the face and demand attention, and this one - well, it's like when you suddenyl notice an old friend has been standing by your side for a while, and you don't know where they arrived from.

Here is another one that made me feel really good inside and touched my heart. I also like what he said, as thats is exactly the way I thought when I did this image for this challenge.

Congratulations Sherryl! I found this image while researching for an entry into Rhythm lll.
I am surprised that no one mentioned the incredible illusion of DOF that you created by using only color. To my eye, that is what makes your image so appealing. I also think your background texture is an enhancement, not a detraction as some below have commented. On my monitor at least, it is a subtle texture that acts as a complementary foil for the foreground. It establishes a rectilinear tableau as a reference for the wave. This is a 10 in my book!

When I saw your topic, the one that came to mind isn't a constructive comment, but it was the one that made me feel the best. It was a comment on this one:
from Zeuszen
Especially because I was getting beaten up on the score, but this is a type of photography I truly love, but few appreciate. And I know Zeuszen is a discriminating critic, who seems pretty much in tune with fine art photography. Here's what he said:
"How gratifying it is to come across truly marvellous photographs like this one! It turns the tedium of a few hundred shots into a hunt for the Holy Grail. :-)
I have no reservations about any aspects of this impressionistic creation. I am elated and inspired by it. -M'excuse, I got carried away: the title 'describes' an all too obvious attribute -and this, perhaps, too mildly. One would expect the strong visual charge to be conducted by the title. (?)"
And that photo, despite doing badly here, was one of my first to win (second place) at BetterPhoto. We have it hanging proudly in our living room.
