		| | Looks like CIPA let the cat out of the bag a little early:

No idea as to specs yet, but I'm guessing Digic 3 with the 400D's dust removal...

		| | I saw that posted on Dpreview earlier, very interesting. I've been saving my stock money for a year now, its time for an upgrade! I'd love to see 12mp (but I bet its 10) and the liveview from the 1dmkIII (thought I doubt it'll appear!).
I hope they annouce a few new lenses as well.

Yip, my Canon salesman/friend is muttering something about this one and the 5D upgrade. Or shall we say, here we go again LOL/ROFLMAO.

		| | Good, then maybe the price of the 30D will drop and I can upgrade (from my 10D).
Oh, wait, I should hold out for the 5D mkII to come out and drop the price of the 5D.

 Tough choices.

		| | Expect DiGiC 3, 10mp and the dust shaker deal (and the software for dust deletion as well). Those are easy guesses.
Likely? 3" LCD, perhaps 6 FPS, larger buffer of course, different battery for longer shooting time, improved AF( from the 5D, or perhaps a version of the new 1D mk3 setup), perhaps extended ISO range (50? 6400?)
Not likely, but always rumoured - weather sealing, LiveView
$1299. the 30D is currently out there at 1000/1050 new and will be discontinued.

I would also expect a 5D upgrade of minor specs.

I would like to see a 40D and 40Dw - a 40D at 1300 and a 40D weather sealed w/ live view at $1800 - to compete or beat the D200. The 580EX2 flash is now weather sealed...

A new 1Ds is expected too - but perhaps not till november.

New lenses? 18-200 IS for $1000, a 24-70 IS for FF use, and probably some Version II of other high end lenses like they did with the 16-35 2.8 and 85 1.2 - these lenses (and others) are being upgraded to work the higher resolvgin an dres of the new 1Ds...19-22mp range.

 5D has already dropped quite a bit. $3299 CDN + $350 rebate so $2949

		| | Does anybody know:
 - Isn't there typically a Fall event at which new gear is introduced? Name/dates?
 - The Spring/Summer lens rebates from Canon just ended (July 17th). When does the next one typically start? What rebate are you talking about Colette?

		| | Upgrading is so very tempting right now...but the 350D is still good and works fine. Need to invest more in glass and not a new body. But, god forbid, the 350D breaks...hehehe.

I always love people's speculations because it looks like a wish list. Canon is much better at maintaining separation between their lines.

A 40D will likely stay at 10MP unless a new 5D goes up to 16MP. Dust shaker? yes. Digic 3? Yes. That all keeps up with the lower line.

 bigger screen? Possibly.
 6 FPS? Not a chance.
larger buffer? not needed because there is no way in hell it will shoot 6 FPS.
 extended range? Naw.

Really the 40D has nowhere to go until they improve the 5D line, so despite the rumors, I'd speculate they will announce a 5D improvement first then a 40D can get closer to where the current 5D sits. (although if the new 5D is only a cosmetic improvement, then there isn't much room again). The 5D line has been longest to upgrade, so I'd look there.

Nah, I need to be saving anyway. I'm planning on building a new computer once the Intel price drops are announced. Just bought the 70-200 f/4L, no more money in the photography budget this year.

		| | I dont think the 40D is coming out, I think that pictbridge website just made a typo and forgot one the 0's on the 400D. They seem to have corrected it now, it's not listed as 40D anymore.

As far as I know, the 16-35 and 85 were not upgraded for an increase in resolving power. Both lenses were already more than capable in this respect. As far as I know, the 16-35 had internal anti-reflective coatings added and the 85 had hike in focussing speed, too.
