Does anybody have any experience with these hard drives? I backed up some files and now can't access them on the external hard drive. I want to erase a few of the files.

We need to know a lot more about your situation. What OS? How did you back up the files? Simple copy or using some dedicated software that came with the drives??

I just used the software that came with the external hard drive. Its arcsoft totalmedia backup and record. They have an option for backing up photos and I used that.

It's likely then that the software is doing something to your stuff, compressing or encrypting, or whatever. You're better off using a utility that does not modify files, but just copies them to the external drive. There are dozens available for the Mac. I assume there are hundreds for Windows.
