Hi ladies and gents, I have a rules question. Am I able to “clone out” / "erase" some fishing line out of a picture. I plan to use some in an “advanced editing” challenge to hang an item but will I be able to remove it PP and still be safe within the rules?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

The short answer is yes.
The safest bet would be to go under the Help->contact us->general inquiry and send a message to the SC with a before after shot and ask the SC if it they thought it would pass a validation request. :)

It's been done many times before, so it should be Okay. I think it violates the rules. It certainly would change my "description of the photo" I think there is a huge difference between something being hung by a thin line, and something floating in the air like magic.

It's fine in Advanced. The whole point of using fishing line is that it's so thin and transparent that it's difficult to see. Any suspended objects appear to be floating in the original unless you look very closely. Thus, cloning out the faint lines doesn't significantly change a basic description of the photo.

what about using a piece of thread? i thought it would be transparant but it wasnt as discreet as i thought and i think my image might be disqualified if i enter it, i sent in an original for questioning but the challenge starts tonight and i really want to enter it and probably wont get a response in time....grrrr

Ohh great, it sounds like you've had a similar idea to me for this challenge, i've just had a look at your profile, ohh well, I'll take the "red ribbon" instead then ;-)
