Thank you Melethia. This is a nightmare in itself waiting for the end. Keep those high votes coming. My highest scoring image so far and I keep waiting for the coveted 7+. The comments are great.

Maby u guys are right and nothing strange is going on with the scores. I'm probably not going to post anything but flowers anymore. I guess I don't understand the voting. They ask for us to show them our nightmares, and I did in a very real way. I've had only excelent comments on the image except for one from a nine year old girl that probably shouldn't have been voting on this paticular contest. She just gave me a ? and a low score to go along with it so she could get a ribbon from judi for 100% comments. I really don't care if my image gets a 4 or a 6, but I do think if we are going to have a challenges like this you probably shouldn't vote for it if you can't handle looking at the images. I guess I'll just go make me a bunch of paper flowers or somthing that will score high for the next challenge

Images with everything out of focus, odd color balance, crooked horizons, expected subjects, bland compositions (particularly a single, centered subject), obscure challenge connections, or that are difficult to look at (for whatever reason) will get lower and/or erratic scores. Even if there are a few cheaters, trolls votes or oddball opinions, the characteristics listed above will always drive most of your score. While this challenge demands unpleasant images, remember that even in horror movies there's scary (but entertaining) and then there's just disgusting.

This should just be saved so we can cut and paste it into every challenge score thread.

Tell you what Shannon...I feel..being in the playoffs of the DPL..I took the line that you are expounding...clean..focused not unpleasant or bloody..I've been around here awhile... still..it didn't work for this challenge...I have never seen scores in flux so much..but then again things really aren't what they used to be here...not saying that is bad...but it is very different...using what I know and submitting what I did..it still wasn't good enough for the masses..so when they tell you to show us your nightmares...and some people really do...and they get lower scores for it...lol..where do you go..?..I guess all it really means is that the winner is the photo..that appeals to more voters...for whatever the reason is...lol

Yea, I see where u are coming from, but man I have a eight year old and thiers no way in hell I am going to let her vote on a contest with photos this graphic in nature. If u think about it if she's looking at these photos on this site, who knows what she might be running across on other sites. At my daughters age, if she is on the internet my wife or I are right there with her.

Well I welcome her to the site, I whould just hope that for her sake there is some sort of limits for her. Posting the image I posted for this contest I don't know if I would have posted it knowing young children were voting.

But my main point from earlier was that if there is going to be a contest like this that explores the realms of death, everything should go. If someone goes all out and has a photo that meets or exceeds the standards; they shouldn't get banged just because they are scary and disgusting instead of being scary and entertaining.

Personally, I'd ignore it... for one simple reason: nobody knows what your personal worst nightmare is. It may be that your worst nightmare is to fall into a septic tank. Sure it would meet the challenge, but it would be (pardon the pun) a crappy photo. Your worst nightmare might be to be licked in the face by a cute puppy, but the voters won't buy it. Whenever you see a challenge description directed at "you," remember that the voters are reading the same thing and will interpret the words as directed toward them. Thus, your best bet is to choose a "typical" subject and present it in a compelling way. Just my two cents.

It's been my story too, although I have slowly been losing ground since a high at 65 votes.

Yeah, too true, some of the challenges and photo's are innapropraite for that age group.

I just remembered something- don't you have to be 13 or older to register on the site??
