Man, this thread (and community) is an image thief's worst nightmare! I almost feel bad for her... almost! >=D
07/13/2007 05:52:08 PM · #52
What I find most amusing is that she didn't even bother to change the file name, at least not on mine. The file on PhotoSite is named with the same upload number assigned by DPC. Hah!

Go look at her messages now. Someone is really giving her grief. Too funny!!
07/13/2007 06:37:37 PM · #54
She doesn't seem to care about the text people put on their photos either... I was looking through this album, and it seems that 5 of the 16 photos have copyright text on them, from 4 different people.

Oh I hadn't even noticed that. All of her images are probably stolen. Wish I could see the Exif data to see if they all came from different cameras.

Whilst obviously Im totaly against her stealing images, who ever is leaving this message;

Your neighbors in Four Oaks may want to know they live next door to a thief, Faye.

Should probably be careful, it sounds very threating/stalker like

Somebody stealing my image and posting it on another website doesn't really bother me. What does bother me is somebody buying my print from dpcprints turning around and selling it and make an extra 10 bucks. Selling it more than what they paid.

Edit: Sorry I went a little off topic here.

I don't think it was meant to be threatening - only informative. I believe it is important that thieves understand that they are not invisible or autonomous on the web.

While it probably wasn't meant to be threatening, it is. IMHO it's not the way to go about this.

You are probably right. Steve may be as stupid as Faye is dishonest. I don't think he will post anymore.

Nah, he can't be THAT stupid ;)
Just a little overeager maybe :)

Yup, already on it, sent in a notarized complaint since they wanted me to fill out a snail mail form. She never even bothered to change the file name - the number there is the same as the number here.

As I mentioned earlier, at most of the sites, the pictures are available for sale. So, she didn't even make the initial purchase. she went straight to offering them for sale (at least potentially).

I'm confused, wouldn't anything she got off a website be low-rez and therefore look like crap in print form?

Yes. Honestly if someone can make themselves rich selling 4x6 prints of my pictures, more power to them.

HELLO, EVERYONE!!!

sorry for shouting, but i wanted to get your attention ;-)

please, please, when you suspect image theft, refer to this thread.

yes, i am working on part 2, but, in the mean time, part 1 should give you a start.

believe me, you are doing no one--the original photographer, yourself, dpc, or anyone else--any favors by blasting off on someone, even if they are totally misrepresenting themselves. when you over-react, you risk doing far more damage than they.

one thing i would recommend to anyone feeling 'ripped off' would be to either put in an admin ticket requesting help or to PM a handful of people you can trust, rather than posting in the forums. why? because the standard mob behavior in the forums, however well-intentioned, seems to do nothing but invite village burning...

so, on the count of 3, lets all take a deep, deep breath and take a good pause before we start flaming out the borrowers.

This thread is also very helpful.

This is very sane and compassionate advice. My take on this person is that she was just trying to make friends. Does not justify it, but a black and white reaction probably does not help. From reading her message board I never read that she was claiming credit for these images, but she did seem to want the attention and cyber friendships these photos attracted online. Maybe just looking for love. I could be wrong.
