There are so many wonderful and helpful people here; and I'd like to take a moment to thank a couple, in particular.

My husband and I have been putting together a business retailing and delivering fresh Florida shrimp. It may not seem like such a great enterprise, but there is a good market for quality wild caught shrimp, and we are very excited about working for ourselves.

A while back we had the privilege of being visited by Robert Sullivan ( yakatme). We told him about our business and how we hadn't thought of a name yet. Without hesitation he suggested "The Shrimp Pimp", after we had finished laughing we all agreed that it was the perfect name and asked his permission to use it (which he graciously granted).

Starting this business has been the main reason that I have been scarce lately, and had to bail in the middle of the 30 day ordinary object challenge. A few days ago I checked in with my online pal Doug Havens ( digitalknight) to apologize for being distant and to ask for advice on web hosting. Within hours I received an email with the subject line "Your account for theshrimppimp.biz is now ready for use." As of yet he refuses to let me pay him for this!

It took me two days to figure out how to use Front Page to write the html and upload, but I got it done. Now, the website is very ugly (I'm no web designer); but it's effective, and the orders are coming in. Stay tuned for a logo and a professionally designed site coming soon.

So, thanks Robert and Doug! You guys can drop in for free shrimp anytime. DPC Rules!

Your very welcome Roxanne. Actually, I am honored to have been a small part of your new enterprise and that you are going with that name. I'm very glad to hear that the business is progressing well and that orders are coming in. Hopefully you can land a few restaurants for clients.

Don't forget what came after the name - - - The rest of the plan was to get an early 1970's convertible Cadillac to deliver the shrimp with.

Seriously though, I will take you up on your offer to drop in again sometime. Maybe around August 8th or 9th when my son ( yakatyou) and I return from our trip to some of the springs in Florida.

Well, I'm so not surprised that Gentlemen Yakatme and digitalknight stepped in to help. Way to go, guys!!!!!

And best of luck in your new venture, Roxanne! I used to have some friends who did that in Galveston. It was hard work, but pretty lucrative for them. I wish you ALL the best!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

I appreciate the heads up on the site being down. I have sent a ticket to the host. Hope it comes back up soon.

I'll repost when it's fixed.

Robert yakatme, I'm all for that Cadillac idea. I've got it worked out in my imagination complete with purple metallic paint, big rims and fuzzy dice on the rear-view mirror. However, unless someone on DPC has one to donate ;), it will be quite a few pounds of shrimp before we get to that.

Billy, of course you would get a great price! The shipping, I'm not so sure about. We haven't tried that, but I know it involves a cooler, ice packs and overnight delivery. You wouldn't happen to have a 70's convertible Cadillac would you?;)

I've been meaning for some time to send digitalknight a PM thanking him for his well-constructed and thoughtful comments, but have been too lazy. In case you read this, Doug, thank you.

Congratulations on your new business startup.
I suppose there would be trademark issues if you used this in your promotional materials...
:-))

I want some Roxanne. The one thing I miss about living on the Gulf is I can't go and get the fresh seafood when I want it.

OMG, that is just sick...and hilarious!

Another wonderful member has offered to design my logo! When I get permission to reveal, I'll post that too.

My site is still down, and I don't have time to figure it out right now.

Dave, I'll send you a copy of the price list. You will love these shrimp!

I wasn't expecting to get orders; but if anyone else is interested please email me at theshrimppimp@gmail.com.

Thanks!
