I have been using Adobe Album to download my originals. It does a great job but I don't think it was meant for the volume I take, and it is getting VERY slow. I would like to just download originals to my hard drive, but when I do this, I can't find a way to view the EXIF data. (I am going to "my computer", finding my CF card, and using the copy function. I am leery of transfer software, so have been avoiding it.)

If you are using a PC, I recommend IrfanView which does a great job reading EXIF, previewing, etc. I think you can also see the EXIF in the file's Properties window.

Or, you can upgrade to Vista which displays a lot of the relevant EXIF data in the explorer window.

If you're nervous about upgrading to Vista, just take a sharp stick, light it on fire and poke yourself repeatedly in the eye with it. If you can handle that, the upgrade won't be too much more painful. :)

I have Vista on my new laptop. I guess it would be OK if I got used to it, but so far I don't like it. (Of course, that's a whole other subject!)

The IrfanView link is not working.

The link works for me. Maybe try here, IrfanView.

Ooops -- there's always a typo. Fixed original link.
