Post a picture for critique? On this site? The URL window pops up what do I type in? Doh! I guess the stupidest question is the one not asked?

when you click on the little planet at the top of the forum posting box, it will ask for your URL. Type in the address to where your photo can be found, then it will ask you for the text you want to be seen. Type in something like "MY PHOTO". Then it will enter a whole lot of mumbo jumbo into your forum post, and then it will show up after you hit enter. Hope that helps.

Heather, I keep my photos on Hard Disk D. What do I use as "the address where my photo can be found"?
URL is a mystery.

In order to have that work, you have to have your photos on a site like pbase.com. Then after the www, you would put the address of where that photo was located...for example www.pbase.userID.com (that's not a real site, just an example).
then it will show up. If you want it to show up as a link...you click on the little planet, if you want the actual photo to show up in the forum post, then you click the little "insert photo" button. Usually easier to insert the link though.
Sorry I'm being confusing, I'm not real sure how to explain it.

Your photo must be on a web site somewhere in order for it to be viewable in the forums. Like Heather said, PBase is one example of a site that allows you to post images.

Unless you have a web server running on your home computer with a full-time connection to the Internet (this is not the case for 99% of folks...), you can't link a photo that is only located on your home computer. It has to be uploaded somewhere on the web first.

The link will take these forms:
For text linked to pBase, click the link button, then enter the full URL in the pop-up, like this:
//www.pbase.com/image/6912494
where your image number is on the end. You'll then be prompted with a second pop-up in which you enter the text of the link.

If you're going to try and display the image, click the embed image button and enter the URL in the pop-up with .jpg appended, like this:
//www.pbase.com/image/6912494.jpg
If you want to display a smaller version, modify the URL like this:
//www.pbase.com/image/6912494/small.jpg, which will give you this:
