How many times have I seen the thread:
- Can I have a "watched threads" link somewhere besides the bottom of the home page?
- Can I have another "update" button - so I can click it twice as fast?
Sure, you could put these links in a shortcut or favorites bar, but I don't use the shortcut bar, because that cuts into my precious viewing space. I use the DPC navigation menu... and wouldn't it be nice if it were customizable? =)
Once you install the Quicklinks DPCmod, you can add your own links to the DPC "My Home" menu. Add an update button, you favorite forums (in one click), your favorite photographer profiles - anything you want!
Upon install, I've preloaded it with three useful ones:
- Update
- Watched threads
- PPChallenge.com ;)
There are some quirks:
- To add a link, click the add link and enter a name and URL
- To remove a link, highlight the link and press the delete key
- After adding or deleting a link, you have to refresh to get the menu to refresh
- To delete or click a link, you must click the text - not just the box around it. You'll see what I mean if you use a small link name and it's hard to click. I may fix this sometime.
Questions, comments, bug reports welcome.
EDIT: Mod is available from my DPCmod page.
Cheers,
-Jeff

Oops - one more quirk:
- On page load, if you open a menu really quickly, that menu may become locked open. I'm working on this one... |

Does Langdon pay you for your services???
Thanks for another mod! |

love your mods, kind of silly having the update button there but watched thread is cool imo i guess its alot easier.
Having a link to
//www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_stats.php?action=update
on your link bar in browser is alot faster... IMO
The one id add is a link to Manage Portfolio! |

LOL! You might think I'd at least get some sort of membership extension, huh? =D
Maybe someday he'll ask me to implement some of them in the real site code so they're available to everybody. But he has to be careful as everyone has an opinion and not too many people like change. They're nice as optional scripts - too bad only for Firefox.

Thanks, yeah lots of possibilities:
- DPL Team Mates Profiles
- Favorite photog profiles
- Favorite images
- Things that are buried but fun, like "Statistically favorite photographers"
- etc. |

Yeah speaking of DPL, another link to the thread on the DPL menu would be cool? YAY lol |

Oops - a bug:
- if you're not logged in, it zaps your menu altogether (because the menu is different when you're not logged in). Lol!
I'll fix it at some point - in the meantime, log in! =) |

Fixed in v1.1 per Brad's prodding. =D Available from the DPCmod page.
As far as I know, the only bug left is "Can't delete links in Turnabout in Internet Explorer", which I'll look into at some point. |

Prod? PROD??
Here I was thinking I was the first kid on the block to break it and sent a friendly note. You haven't seen my prod yet.
(not sure that sounds right - lol)
Back to Beta testing automotive software. Darn.

Not sure if this is a bug, or a feature, but on the mod that shows if you have new comments or favs, the no new comments line on the Portfolio Images is a link, While the no new comments line on Challenge Entries is not a link.
I hope this makes sense.
edit to add: In the comments received section on the left side of my profile, next to the number of comments I see (+NaN) and my number is bracketed by little red arrows. This does not clear up after I have read the new comments, or even after I refresh my page.

Wow! These are awesome!
I am having a bit of trouble installing tho. I gots IE7 & I am trying to install the pics on profile & the mod opened up in dreamweaver. What to do?
Do you have install instructions anywhere? I have installed Turnabout, guessing that I need it to run the mods. True or false?

Barbara - looks like I hadn't counted on people having 1000+ comments. =) Apparently when you factor in the comma (,) the result becomes not a number (NaN). I'll fix it soon...
Rooster - see if the instructions on my DPCmod page help. If you right-click the Install link, and choose "Save Target As", you should be able to save the file (like dpcmod_profileimages.use.js) to your documents. Then open the file using the Turnabout Options "Install Feature" button.
Cheers,
-Jeff |

Hey,
So I successfully installed the mods but my IE has crashed numerous times since then, taking my outlook with it. Both freeze up & then close.
Any thoughts?

I haven't run into the stability issues, but I haven't used IE except for short tests and without Outlook open. Is it any better if Outlook is not also open? Has IE ever crashed like this before? Does it help to have recently rebooted?
I'd love to hear from other folks if they're seeing the same thing... Not that I can really do anything about it except maybe try to bug the Turnabout people. =) |

Hi Goran,
Somebody also suggested a Yahoo gadget, and showing more than one image at a time in the gadget. All are great ideas, but unfortunately I can only spend time when I have it, and lately I haven't.
It would probably be pretty easy for somebody to port the gadgets, though.
Cheers,

Another great mod :)
I tried typing in "Fav Photographers" and linking to //www.dpchallenge.com/favorites_mgr.php?action=statuser but it only shows "Fav" in the box. Is that because it is too long to fit?

Thanks, Ben.

Yes, I think so. The text word-wrapped, but the container hides the overflow. Using a lowercase 'p' fit for me, but it depends on font, rendering, etc.
