not quite true, they were at first only offering pc's with vista then switched to giving customers a choice between the 2. i work on computers for a living and personally i NEVER, EVER install any microsoft OS until they come out with at least the first service pack. |
Only the business machines have the XP option. Those who choose the Home category have no choice. |

I own a Corporate Volume License copy of Windows XP PRO SP1, so I like no OS PC's and for the rest who gives wipe it. I just recently made the mistake of wiping my HP A642N and putting it on there..... No freaking drivers had to go find them all lol. |

As do I, along with MSDN and Technet Subscriptions...
The same is now true for Office 2007, Office 2003 is no longer available to the public (through major chains) but in the business world Office 2003 is still being installed. My cheap azz company probably won't go to Off2007 until 2010. |

I know we are getting a bit off topic here but talk about a Net/Memory hog, We went to a Sharepoint 2007 portal for our CMS with Sharepoint team sites underneath and it just sucks the wind out of the sails of the bandwidth... at least at the satellite sites via T1.
I like the concept but we need to upgrade to a DS3 to enjoy any kind of performance...
...then when a majority of your users are ROAD (retired on active duty) Scholars and don't follow new technologies it's a real pain to get them to understand how to use the interface. Shouldn't be but there are some out there that put the "L" in user that just can't be taught new tricks. |
