I went out and did some photos today at the MotoX. I got some great ones and decided to put a couple together for you to enjoy.

All the images were handheld and most have not been cropped in anyway.

Great shots, Judi! Stunning action, great color, and sharp focus on all.

Ahhh, these pics are like the smell of 2 stroke exhaust, bringing back memories of my riding days.

Were these all 125cc races ('cept for peewee)? I raced 250 and occasionally 125. That was when I was young and invincible. :)

Thanks for sharing those!

Thanks Art for all of your comments. There were much bigger bikes there but I could only stay for a short time. I loved the smell, sound and the adrenalin rush of the event...and would have loved to have stayed longer.

Nice job! "Slide" is particularly moto-mag quality.

Ken, motocrossers are all 4-stroke, now.

These are awesome, Judi! The color is so vibrant. I particularly like "I won't touch the ground" but they are all superb!

Thanks heaps everyone. In response to the accident in 'Oops'...he got up, picked up his bike, looked straight at me (I think his pride was hurt hehehe) and started his bike to rejoin the race....!

A later fall with another rider, with the bike going upside down, required an ambulance...but he eventually got back to his feet after 10 minutes of not moving on the ground.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! :(

No more loud, tinny buzz of the engines?? We used to call 4 stroke dirt bikes "thumpers". Times change. ...and yet I STILL don't have my jet car! >:|

Well Art...if it is any consolation I shot these photos at the MotoX grounds.....appropriately called 'Mozzie Creek'.

Now it's the rap of 11,000 R.P.M. "thumpers" and thousand dollar top-end rebuilds...

Jet car? I'll bet Art Arfons has left one laying around, or then Paul Moller's SkyCar is about in the production stage.

I thought MotoX was like Botox until I actually opened the thread. Then my brain started working again. Nice shots Judi! I hope to have some nice action shots to share in a couple of weeks. (My dad is racing chuckwagons and I hope to get some good shots. Hopefully I get the framing a little better than on this shot which I really like except for how tight I am to the one lead horse:

ETA: Dang...I thought you shot Nikon Judi. I was hoping to find out what settings you used. Perhaps you could still share that info with us. E.g. continuous shooting mode? Jpg or RAW? Focus mode?

How do you think Judi stays looking so young and gorgeous? That's right, it's MotoXâ„¢ - it's actually a whole treatment that begins with a knobby tire massage.

I do shoot Nikon....but mainly for IR. But I can tell you that Kita was also shooting that day....on the Nikon...and she is very proud that she actually outshot me for the first time. So I will be able to get her to post some of her shots in here with the settings...when she batches them.

I can tell you that with shots I only shot continuous twice...that was at the start of the one of the races and in the accident in oops...everything else was one shot each time. I only shoot RAW in Manual mode. Most of these are not cropped at all and all the images were handheld.

The RAW alterations were almost nil.

I hope that helps.

OH, ok. Well take a giant panoramic group shot with you in it wearing a red & white striped shirt and matching hat and let's see if we can find you. :)

Have fun & Happy Early Birthday!

Invite photos? ...oh, I see. Some nude SPs. That's your plan for getting half the town to show up. The mostly male half I suppose. ...well, them and the girl from the railroad tracks. ;-)

Ok, well in four months I'll try to remember to say Happy Birthday again.

Yes.....the girl from the railway track is actually my best friend...and she is flying in for the occasion, so she will be there.

Yeahhhhh...that is going to be a worry...I have been told by friends that they will be doing the photos...I am not allowed to touch a camera. I will be drinking apparently. But the problem is...it only takes one drink for me to be legless! So what types of photos am I going to be seeing later? Now that's scary.

Anyways....there will be bikes there...so ya never know..ya might see some bike shots you like.
