My family is renting a house on Bald Head Island in North Carolina the first week of September and thought I'd see if anyone has been there before and can give any recommendations on:
1) places to go/things to do
2) places to shoot

Is it on the Outer Banks, or one of the more central lakes?
If it is OB, like I'm thinking, you can take a day trip or two and catch some lighthouses and such. Also, though I'm not sure how far it would be, Kitty Hawk is kind of neat, I think.

I don't know what really defines the Outer Banks.
I guess the actual island is Smtih Island but the town is Bald Head Island. It's the southeastern most point of NC about 30 min. from Wilmington near Southport.
I do know that Cape Fear is "on" it so there may be some cool stuff there.

Hmmm... it sounds like it was named after me, but it's not on the map.

What I have is really painted chia-hair (ch-ch-ch-chia!), so it doesn't count. But I'll not stop you from claiming the island. It's probly hot there, though, so consider "Mr_Shorts Island" as an alternative.
