I cant believe how many people have responded to my ad, although none of them so far have seem even closely legit. I can't believe people would do such dirty deeds. All I want is a good home for my puppy.

Oh and to top it all off... NONE of them will give me vet reference or any personal references. That is another thing I noticed. They are all ready to send that cashiers check and arrange for pickup or shipment.HAHAHAHA NOT!!!

So agreed, this is a scam. I don't understand how the scam would work, though. They send you a fake check and then... what? Get a free dog?

As a side note, why would anyone have a pet shipped rather than go to a local shelter? Pets needing homes are everywhere.

In that anything is possible, they get a 'free dog' and sell it to the nearest 'research facility' thus making double loot.

I do not fully understand how the scam works but it is being used on all sorts of products, my understanding is when it is all done you are out product or dog in this case and end up liable for the shipping costs and the check is worthless. People are such scum to do this with products but to do this with pets is really low.

What they do is send a cashiers check for over the agreed upon amount. Say the amount agreed on was $500. The check will be for like $1000, followed closely by a message from the scammer that oops, we made a mistake and sent too much, but you can keep some for your troubles since it was their mistake. So please send them back, say $400 (usually they request this by western union or other wire transfer). People that fall for it, send the money, and soon find out from their bank that the check was a fraud. I don't think they actually care about the 'product' being shipped at all. I doubt even if it was that they ever actually recieve it, I'm sure the address they use is not legit, nothing that could be traced at all. They are after the money. Works the same way as the ones where they want to hire you as a photog to shoot their wedding, or reunion or something in some tempting location, offering to pay all expenses etc. Settle on like, 5 grand for price, they send you 8 grand, etc. etc.

The Ebola Monkey Man is very cool. He totally messes with Nigerian 419 scammers. He plays with them as far as he can (which sometimes is quite long!), gets them to do stupid things, take silly pics of themselves, all kinds of stuff. Some of it is hilarious.

If anyone's more interested in reassuring you about the payment/shipping details than about what good owners they'd make for the pet, scam or not I wouldn't deal with 'em!

Actually, I don't think I'd deal with anyone who I couldn't see interact with the dog first...

Thats is the main reason I will not ship any animal. I want to be reassured that the animal is going to react well with the family that plans on adopting her. I hope I get some real legit emails or calls soon for my pup. I posted the ad as an alternative to the shelter. I am asking an adoption fee and for vet references as well to reassure myself.
It's hard to believe the cruel heartless people in this world today. I am still getting emails from other scammers.... I agree with the post about the person more worried about payment/shipping. What kind of pet owner is that......
