What do ya guys think of my new business card?
Any sugestions before I send off to be printed?

I think it's very pretty, but on first look, I think if it's possible, it may be better if the background photo was lighter. The photo is nice but slightly distracting and makes the font difficult to read. Looks too busy.

Yea, you need to fade the image. You need the text readable. Also, don't use so many different fonts and formats. Pick one or two.

Very pretty pic, though.

Edit:

Just realizing...the pic is nice but doesn't have anything to do with what you are listing. You have weddings, advertising....you don't list fine art or anything. If you are going to list events and portraits and stuff, then use an image that goes along with that.

Here is a revised card. Lightened the photo, and changed some of the font plus added new catagory- Fine Arts

still too busy. everything has equal value (each text line, the photo). what is most important for the client to know? the 2nd most important? simplicity is key. the card should be a representation of the work you will deliver to them. does this represent who you are and how you work??

I think that the black color for the font is not the best choice, try to fade the photo and use a combination of two colors for the font like for exmaple use black and red or yellow for just one specific letter in a word. Make sure that the colored letters in different words form another "hidden" word e.g. photo, art, etc.. something to give it a life.
P.S. the photo itself is nice, but the card lacks life a bit.

To make the fonts stand out more, you can give it a bit of a beveled edge and/or a little outer glow under blending options for the text layers. Play around with it until you find a desired effect. The edit is nicer, but still a little jumbled IMO. Try taking the font size down a couple points.

I don't think the full-card photo is a good idea. The cards are tiny, so what's the point of presenting some of your work when they won't really be able to see it that well anyways?

It's much easier to read text on a solid background, and more negative space and a sans-serif font for the types of photography you do would help.

This is mine, although I've been told that the design doesn't look very well thought out and I don't claim to be good at design. I chose not to list the types of photography I do on the card, since I usually either talk to people a little, already know them, etc. before I hand them the card.

100% agree.

I really wanted an image on my card, though after spending days trying to get something to work, I decided it wasn't worth it.

Just a thought... Why don't you have the cards done double sided. It will cost you a little more but is well worth it. Have the butterfly picture on one side with the name of your company and then on the other side have the contact information and other stuff. Just have the other side done as black text on white with a nice border maybe. That will solve your problem of being too busy but will also give the WOW factor of the butterfly.

Not easy to make out the print with the background which is to busy

Agreed with others, too busy.

If price is not a big issue, how about having the picture at the back and other information on front with a very simple font and something that will make them flip it. ebay employees have business cards of that sort, I loved it when a friend passed his around.

I have noticed people always end up flipping a card, even if it is blank.

Thanks for all the comments and sugestions. I wish I would have saved my butterfly photo for this months freestudy. Oh well. I think I'll go ahead and have the doubleside done. I printed some of these out and I dont think they turned out too bad, but I do agree they do seem a little busy.

My only other issue now is catagories. I want to be flexible and have a wide variety of jobs I can do. Any sugestions on different catagories to post on my card and my smugmug? I like to shoot sports, events,Weddings, landscapes or actually anything outdoors. I like photographing people. I would like to shoot models now and then. I know I need alot more equipment but in October I am getting a D200, then I will working on getting some more lenses and stuff shortly after.
Anyone have a good list of catagories I can use.

Mixing fonts makes it hard to read, plus the text really doesn't stand out against the image. And I'd pick a different image for those categories, though it'd probably look cleaner without an image at all.

I personally am not a fan of photos on business cards. I like very simple clean cut, straight to the point cards
like heres mine...
