I think a good photo, one that someone has worked hard on, deserves a pat on the back (i.e a comment). Other pictures that have not made the grade deserve a helpful comment, not derisory or spiteful, but one that will help those photographers improve their work. I've only been on this site for a couple of weeks and have given plenty of slaps on the back when voting, but am hesitant to give advice to others for fear of someone taking offence. Who the hell is THIS guy, anyway? I've sold pictures to magazines and won a magazine competition, my site can be found at www.123freehost.co.uk/sites/ftm. Judge for yourselves whether I'm worthy to give advice as I don't want to be thought of as Peewee Hermann offering advice to Arnie Schwarzenegger (LOL). I don't get a lot of time to go on the net, but I try to vote mostly at weekends, best of luck in the current contest. Best wishes....

Welcome Marklane!
I haven't even been to your site yet, but I can assure you that your opinions, feelings, and observations on photos here are as welcome or valid as anyone's. I think giving "technical advice" is less important than describing what (if any) impact or meaning a photo has for you, and how you think the artist may have improved the effect. No qualifications are necessary for telling someone what you think/feel except being you... |

Thanksgiving resolution? I like it! :-) That way, when New Year's rolls around, you have already experimented for a month or so, and it is not so hard to adjust. Hahahahahah
