I reinstalled Windows XP (and subsequently PSCS2) recently onto my Averatec 3500 series Tablet laptop. Now I cannot view my Camera Raw files as thumbnails in Bridge as I used to be able to. Any ideas? I've searched through preferences and the Help menu to no avail. |

Did you update Adobe Camera Raw to 3.7? |

I had this exact same problem when I reinstalled Windows XP on my laptop. Unfortunately I don't remember what I did to fix it. I will think about it... |

Yes, and the Camera Raw editing works just fine. |

This may only affect Windows but did you re-install the windows plugin for showing the RAW thumbnails? |

You don't need that plugin for Adobe Bridge. |

No. Nor did I when I first installed CS2, but Raw files opened as thumbnails then. Is this available at Adobe.com? What is the plug-in called? |

It's a Windows thing. As you say, you didn't have it installed before so probably isn't your problem.

I've had this problem every-so-often when I copy a just RAW file directly from the card. I don't know why or how this happens since this doesn't seem likely.
When I right click the image in Bridge, there is no option to open in Camera RAW. What I do is open it to photoshop. It loads in photoshop and most of the time the thumbnail will appear in Bridge with the option to open in Camera Raw. |

Sounds like something isn't getting loaded unless Photoshop is started. |

That is what happened to me. I think eventually all the thumbnails did load on their own. |

It could also be that Bridge is really slow loading previews. |

According to Adobe's web site, the following should fix the problem...
1. Start Bridge.
2. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.
Do you have your camera set to create RAW + JPG files, or just RAW? If it is set to create RAW without JPG, then you will never see thumbnails in Bridge.

This can't be true because I shoot in RAW mode only and I see thumbnails. |

Hmmm... that's interesting. I'm about 73% sure that I read that somewhere. Maybe my CS2 installation is more screwed up than I thought. The only way I've ever been able to see thumbnails for RAW images in Bridge was to have my camera set for RAW + JPG files. I played with it a little when I first installed CS2, but never could get it to work without having RAW + JPG. I just gave up and don't use Bridge.

Oh, back on topic :) I have no problem seeing thumbnails for RAW files at all. Like Mick says, try Purge The Central Cache. I will get thumbnail errors if I try to transfer files from one folder to another too quickly. I have to wait for all the thumbnails to generate before moving them. |
