My Parents have a 2001 VW Jetta TDI. I do have to say that I like the car. They get like 50 MPG and they are also Diesel which is cheaper. You have to put up with the noise, but it is not bad when you get used to it. They are more expensive to buy, but trust me you will regain your money and then some.

Also 15 year old parts are harder to find which makes them expensive. Im not trying to rain on your parade, but I made the same mistake with my first car.

I bought a 2005 Subaru Legacy in 2005 because I thought I needed a nice new car. Drove fine and was a great car. the problem was that I overextended myself and the payments and insurance were too much. I ended up selling it in a panic to the first person to show me money. In the end I lost money selling it for less than it was worth, lost money on the $5K deposit I put down. Essentially I could have bought a used car that was reliable and saved a ton.

I now buy and sell cars all the time. Im on like my 6th car since April. Remember, a car will get you around, but new L lenses can make you money.

My money is on Volvos for the longest running cars. My friend flipped his while avoiding a dead deer in the road w/ 417,000 miles. that Volvo was replaced by a "new" one w/ 244,000 miles. Combined in two cars he has 661,000 Volvo miles. Not too shabby.

Yes I know its 15 years old. I can get parts for it very easily, i know ill be putting money into it and im fine with that, its the car i like and want, and going to get, end of story.

Personally I like how a Ford Windstar handles. Really peppy when you floor it.

Thing takes off and oddly sounds like a Mustang V6.
